The beginning and end of time
by RS  admin@creationpie.com : 1024 x 640

1. The beginning and end of time

2. Thermodynamics as a puzzle
Puzzle 1 Puzzle
How likely is it that when dropping puzzle pieces onto a table, the puzzle is assembled instead of being a random pile of pieces?
Thermodynamics is the study of heat as "thermo" and movement as "dynamic". For the law of increasing order think of shuffling a deck of 52 cards. What is the probability that a shuffle will result in the deck being put back into order (e.g., in order, the sets hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs, each from Ace to King )?
Information sign More: Entropy
This page contains an initial discussion of the Big Bang as it relates to various scientific and information based considerations.

3. The beginning and end of time
Both viewsBoth the Bible and current scientific thought (since the end of the 19th century) agree that there is a beginning to time and an end to time as we know it. The two viewpoints disagree on the time scale.

Modern secular view: Due to the 2nd law of thermodynamics, about 1900, it was recognized that there must be a beginning of time and an end of time.

4. Non-Biblical view
Beginning: infinite viewGoing back to antiquity, many in the ancient world believed that the universe always existed and would always exist.

This is represented on the diagram using the concept of infinity as the symbol "".
Information sign More: Infinity beyond experience

5. From nothing
Verse routeGenesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [kjv]
Verse routeαρχηουρανονγην [lxx]
Verse routeprincipiocaelumterram [v]

The Bible view is that there is a creator who made the universe consisting of space, time, mass, etc., and that there is a beginning of time and an end of time.

That is, God created everything (time and space and matter) from "nothing" (as far as we are told).

6. Genesis 1:1
   Genesis 1:1
 All
KJV: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Latin: in principio creavit Deus caelum et terram
Wycliffe: In the bigynnyng God made of nouyt heuene and erthe.
Tyndale: In the begynnynge God created heaven and erth.
Luther: Am Anfang schuf Gott Himmel und Erde.
Beginning: Biblical view
The Biblical view that there is a beginning of time and an end of time can be represented with the following diagram.

Thus, eternity includes what happens after the end of time (as we know it).

7. Solution
Beginning: secular view
The secular solution to this quandary was to have a beginning and an end.

The beginning and end eventually resulted in the acceptance of the theory of the big bang - that everything came from nothing.

8. Big bang
Beginning: big bang viewA beginning requires a beginning. Is the big bang an "optical illusion"? Or just an "illusion"?
Note the optical illusion created at the center - where one sees a circle where one does not exist. The mind fabricates that circle. Might it be the same with the big bang?

9. Pattern
There is a pattern here.

Whenever a traditional secular view becomes needs to change to a view that is the Biblical view, a new theory is needed to discount the Biblical view.

In this case, the "near past" needs to be the "distant past" while the "near future" needs to be the "distant future".

And, in this case, the "beginning" is the "Big Bang" while the "end" is the "heat death".

10. Complicated math equations
Getting something from nothing is not intuitive. So some mind tricks are required to adjust to this way of thinking. Of course, it helps if one can dress up the theory with complicated equations that few can really understand.

11. Matthew
Verse routeMatthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. [kjv]
Verse routeουρανοςγηπαρελευσεταιπαρελθωσιν [gnt]

12. Matthew 24:35
 All
KJV: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Wycliffe: heuene and erthe schulen passe, but my wordis schulen not passe.

13. Peter
Verse route2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. [kjv]
Verse routeουρανοιστοιχεια … [gnt]

14. 2 Peter 3:10
   2 Peter 3:10
 All
KJV: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Wycliffe: For the dai of the Lord schal come as a theef, in which heuenes with greet bire schulen passe, and elementis schulen be dissoluyd bi heete, and the erthe, and alle the werkis that ben in it, schulen be brent.

15. Second law of thermodynamics
Verse routeHebrews 1:11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; [kjv]
Verse routeαπολουνταιιματιον παλαιωθησονται [gnt]

MacDonalds coffee
The second law of thermodynamics (about 1900) states that, over time, everything (in a closed system) becomes more disordered over time. Entropy increases over time.
Heat flows from hotter to cooler areas.
  • ice melting
  • coffee cooling
  • disorder over time
Time flows from beginning to end.
  • There is a beginning of time.
  • There is an end of time.
The 2nd Law can be interpreted as decay (and disorder and corruption) over time and requires both a beginning and an end to time - just like the Bible claims. This view took a few generations to be accepted.

16. Hebrews 1:11
   Hebrews 1:11
 All
KJV: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;

17. Isaiah 51:6 Wax old like a garment
Verse routeIsaiah 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. [kjv]
[lxx]

18. Isaiah 51:6
   Isaiah 51:6
 All
KJV: Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

19. Years
DNA two chainsWhat is the difference between 10,000 years and 10,000,000,000 years?
When considering coded information (book, DNA, etc.) it does not matter.

Life could not originate by chance.
Future topic Details are left as a future topic.

20. Second law of thermodynamics
The second law of thermodynamics (about 1900) states that, over time, everything (in a closed system) becomes more disordered over time. One consequence is that heat flows from hotter to cooler areas. Both the Bible and current scientific thought (since the end of the 19th century) agree that there is a beginning to time and an end to time as we know it. The two viewpoints disagree on the time scale.

Modern secular view: Due to the 2nd law of thermodynamics, about 1900, it was recognized that there must be a beginning of time and an end of time.

Beginning: big bang viewThere must be a beginning to time and an end to time. The secular view is called the "big bang". The Bible view is in Genesis 1:1. The secular end of time is the "heat death". From where came "coded information"? The "big bang" appears to require a "finite universe" and "finite time".
