1. Song: Be thou my vision
The hymn is of Irish origin and the words are based on an Irish poem from about 800 AD Ireland and often attributed to Dallán Forgaill.
Irish linguist Mary Elizabeth Byrne (1880-1931) translated the poem in 1905. It was made into verse by Elanor Hull (1860-1935) and published in 1912.

The most common tune is an Irish folk tune called "
Slane".

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
