The popular hymn "Blessed assurance", by Fanny Crosby, talks of how we are "blessed" by the information that we have the full assurance of salvation from our "evil conscience" (guilt and shame) and of the rapture (in verse 2).

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

7. Information and assurance
By "full assurance" we have information (or have been informed) of this.

Information by definition is "accurate". If not, it would be called "bad information".

The modern Greek word "πληροφορίες" (plee-ro-fo-REE-ehs) ≈ "information" or "πληροφορία" (plee-ro-fo-REE-a) ≈ "information" is the same word used in the GNT (Greek New Testament) and which the KJV (King James Version) translates as "full assurance".

8. Words: Fanny Crosby

9. Music: Phoebe Knapp
Phoebe Knapp (1839-1908) wrote the music (to which Fanny Crosby wrote the title and words ) for "Blessed Assurance" in 1873. She wrote over 500 hymn tunes.

Born in New York City. She married Joseph Fairchild Knapp, one of the founders and the second president of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He had a pipe organ installed in their apartment. (Wikipedia)

10. Mother of Phoebe Knapp
Phoebe Palmer (1807-1874) was the mother of Phoebe Knapp.

She was a Methodist evangelist and writer who promoted the doctrine of Christian perfection. She is considered one of the founders of the Holiness movement within Methodist Christianity. (Wikipedia)

11. Song origin: Blessed Assurance
Crosby was visiting her friend Phoebe Knapp as the Knapp home was having a large pipe organ installed. The organ was incomplete, so Mrs. Knapp, using the piano, played a new melody she had just composed. When Knapp asked Crosby, "What do you think the tune says?", Crosby replied, "Blessed assurance; Jesus is mine." (Wikipedia)

12. Second verse
The second verse of Blessed Assurance talks of the rapture of which Paul talks in his first letter to the Thessalonians.

13. Crying wolf for the search and seizure of the rapture
Verse routeMatthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. [kjv]
Verse routeψευδοπροφητωνενδυμασιν προβατωνλυκοι αρπαγες [gnt]
Verse routefalsis prophetisvestimentis oviumlupi rapaces [v]

The phrase "to cry wolf" is used to indicate the proclamation of a "false alarm".

The rapture is the "snatching up" of believers (rapiemur in Latin). The word is not in the Bible because the word "rapture" is from the Latin and not the English or Greek.

The ancient Greek word "ἁρπάζω""snatch away, carry off" and is found in various places in the Bible but translated using many different words.

14. Verse 2
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

15. Verse 3
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
