3. Song: Have thine own way Lord
Verse routeJeremiah 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. [kjv]
Verse routeκεραμευςκεραμεως … [lxx]

Vase: filledThe hymn "Have thine own way Lord" was written by Adelaide Pollard (1862-1934) in 1906 and based on Jeremiah 18:1-6.
Adelaide, not able to be a missionary to Africa, overheard a woman say "It really doesn't matter what you do with us, Lord, just have your own way with our lives".

Combining that idea with Jeremiah 18 and the potter and the clay inspired the words to the song written that same evening.

The tune is ADELAIDE, written five years later, by American gospel song writer George Stebbins (1846-1945).

This is hymn #400 in the hymnal.

10. Tune
Music: Have thine own way Lord

11. Verse 1
Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Thou art the potter,
I am the clay.
Mold me and make me
after thy will,
while I am waiting,
yielded and still.

12. Verse 2
Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Search me and try me,
Savior today!
Wash me just now, Lord,
wash me just now,
as in thy presence
humbly I bow.

13. Verse 3
Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Wounded and weary,
help me I pray!
Power, all power,
surely is thine!
Touch me and heal me,
Savior divine!

14. Verse 4
Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being
absolute sway.
Fill with thy Spirit
till all shall see
Christ only, always,
living in me!
