The hymn "
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul", also called "
Oh what a wonderful day", was written by John W. Peterson called the "
dean of modern hymn-writers". The special release CD in 2006 was by Scott Strader, his grandson.
John W. Peterson served in the Army Air Force as a pilot for the China Hump during World War II. He later attended Moody Bible Institute and served on the radio staff there. In 1953 he moved to Pennsylvania to continue his songwriting. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in In 1986.
