1. Song: Precious Lord, take my hand
The hymn "Precious Lord, take my hand" was written by Thomas Andrew Dorsey (1919-1993) in 1932, a week after the death of his wife in childbirth (the son died soon after).

Born in Atlanta, GA, he spent most of his life in Chicago, IL. He studied and played jazz and blues and became known as the father of African American gospel music. He led the gospel choir at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Chicago for 60 years. Music: Precious Lord, take my hand
This hymn is #611 in the hymnal.

2. Verse 1
Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn.

Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

3. Verse 2
When my way grows drear precious Lord linger near
When my life is almost gone

Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
