The children's and gospel song "This little light of mine", with African-American roots, was written down by Harry Dixon Loes in the early 1920's. Many verses have been added over the years.
The Greek for "shine" is that of a "lamp" and not just the appearance of "light". Whose "light" do you emit? Do you pass through the (true) "light" of Jesus? Do you create your own (false) "light"?
