The hymn "Turn your eyes upon Jesus" was written in 1922 by Helen Lemmel (1863-1961), born in England and moved to Wisconsin when she was 12, was later inspired by a tract called "Focused" that was written by missionary Lilias Trotter. It is also known as "The heavenly vision" and based on Isaiah 45:22.
She went blind, her husband left her, financially destitute. She would say when asked, "I am fine in the things that count". She wrote about 400 hymns.

Country artist Alan Jackson's recording of this song for his father-in-law's funeral in 2005 became the inspiration for his 2006 gospel album Precious Memories. Wikipedia (as of 2022-09-24)
