What "
remnant" of "
giants" was Og descended from? The
LXX (Septuagint) has him from the "
ραφαιν" which comes from the Hebrew word
"רפאים" (re-pha-im) ≈ "Rephaim".
In Jewish thought, the Rephaim were either big humans (i.e., giants) or departed spirits in the Jewish afterlife from Sheol.
Note: Goliath and his brothers and others with him were descended from the Rephaim. See 2 Samuel 21:22 (and following) and 1 Chronicles 20:8 (and following).
Note that in English Og has a "
length" and a "
breadth" while in Latin he has a "
longitude" and a "
latitude".
The modern Greek word
"κλίνη" (KLEE-nee) ≈ "bed" from which we get the English word "
clinic".

How would you like to attend a church of "
true" Christians? No sinners allowed.

catch-22" situation? Or some denial of reality?

An interesting "catch-22" appears in the Bible where the educated and otherwise intelligent Pharisee's have difficulty thinking "outside the box".

13. Problem
What is problem here? One must recognize, as do the Pharisees and Jesus, that David was referring to the "Christ" as his Lord one thousand years before Jesus the "Christ". Although the Pharisee's did not recognize Jesus as the "Christ", they did expect the Messiah the "Christ" to whom Jesus is referring.
14. Third person reflexive
Jesus is speaking here in a (reflexive) third person reference by Jesus to himself.
Some small children will do this (until re-learned) as in little Caleb saying about himself, "
Caleb did it" rather than "
I did it".
