The hymn "
How great thou art" was written by Swedish author Carl Gustav Boberg (1859-1940), member of the Swedish Parliament. The song is a translation in 1949 by British Stuart K. Hine (1899-1989) of a Russian version he learned earlier and based on a German translation. Hine was a missionary in Stalin's Soviet Union in the Western Ukraine, returning to Britain 1931. Swedish title:
