Charles Wesley (1707-1788), England, co-founder of the Methodist Church.
They were ridiculed as having to many "methods" and took the derogatory attribution as their name.
Youngest son and 18th child of Samuel and Susanna Wesley
In 1735 went with his brother John Wesley to Georgia, returning to England shortly.
Became itinerant and field preacher.
Said to have written over 6,000 hymns.

"Hark the herald welkins ring" , changed by George Whitefield to "Hark the herald angels sing".
