Time has not yet come

In the GNT (Greek New Testament), Jesus often says, "my time has not come". He is not going to the feast.

John 7:8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. [kjv]

υμεις αναβητε εις την εορτην εγω ουπω αναβαινω εις την εορτην ταυτην οτι ο εμος καιρος ουπω πεπληρωται [gnt]

Then, all of a sudden, Jesus reverses direction.

He sets up a password for a donkey for "the day" not just "a day".
He tells Judas he must act now and not delay, even though they wanted to wait.
He does things to antagonize the religious leadership.

Jesus is in control the entire time.

During his ministry, Jesus says a number of times that his time has not yet come.

John 6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. [kjv]

ιησους ουν γνους οτι μελλουσιν ερχεσθαι και αρπαζειν αυτον ινα ποιησωσιν βασιλεα ανεχωρησεν παλιν εις το ορος αυτος μονος [gnt]

Jesus said he was not going to go.

Would Jesus change his mind? Yes. But why?

Then, he said he was going. It was time.

Why did this have to happen now, it this exact time? The Greek is the "fulfillment of the days".

Luke 9:51

26:5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. [kjv]

In Jerusalem, there was a meeting. They did not want to take Jesus on a feast day - but that is what happened. Note as highlighted in the Middle English, the word "holiday" comes from "holy day".

Note: The word "congregation" means an "assembly" of people.

Jesus talks to Judas at the Last Supper. The Latin "intinxisset" is the origin of the word for the sacrament of "intinction".

The Latin word "extincti" ≈ "extinct" as in quenched.
The Latin word "extinctus" ≈ "extinguish" as in to go out or die out.
The Latin word "distinguo" ≈ "distinguish" as in to separate.
The Latin word "tinctura" ≈ "act of dying or tingeing".
The Latin word "tinctus" ≈ "dye" from which we get the English word "tincture" which is related to the word "tinge".
The German word "tunken" ≈ "dip, dunk" from which we get the English word "dunk".

So one must be careful to "distinguish" between "extinction" and "intinction".

John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. [kjv]

και μετα το ψωμιον τοτε εισηλθεν εις εκεινον ο σατανας λεγει ουν αυτω ο ιησους ο ποιεις ποιησον ταχειον [gnt]

Jesus tells Judas to do it quickly - now.

This is the same Greek word, «ταχιον» or «ταχειον» that is used in Revelation and is translated there as "quickly" or "soon" - depending on your view of Revelation.

John 13:27

Jesus instituted the sacrament of communion at the Last Supper. The Greek word for "thanks" is «ευχαριστησας» from which we get the word "Eucharist".

This verse is the source of the words "New Testament". The Romans often used these verses as proof that Christians were cannibals and should be "eliminated".

Luke 22:19

The Romans often used these verses as proof that Christians were cannibals and should be "eliminated".

The Romans discovered that Christians could be killed when the refused to swear a required oath of allegiance to the emperor. This reminds one of Daniel and the den of lions.

What verses or practices are used today to persecute and, in some places, kill Christians?
