Here is what appears to be a cherry-picked verse that a pastor might that he thinks he knows why Mary did what she did in the garden after the resurrection and why Jesus was there.
Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. [kjv]
That is, Mary was seeking and searching for Jesus with all her heart and found him. Whereas, Peter and John went home (not in the Greek) as if they did not care.
2. Jeremiah 29:12-14 Advice
Jeremiah 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. [kjv]
29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. [kjv]
29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. [kjv]
Here is that same verse with the before and after verses included.
Whenever one hears a verse to support same claim about other verses and that verse is somewhere else in the Bible, it is good to check the before and after verses to get some context. Usually this works well. Sometimes, additional verses are needed for context.

KJV: Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
Hebrew: וקראתם אתי והלכתם והתפללתם אלי ושמעתי אליכם׃
Greek: και προσευξασθε προς με και εισακουσομαι υμων

KJV: And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Hebrew: ובקשתם אתי ומצאתם כי תדרשני בכל לבבכם׃
Greek: και εκζητησατε με και ευρησετε με οτι ζητησετε με εν ολη καρδια υμων

Best to go to Jeremiah and check the context. Here is the next verse after the cherry-picked verse.
Jeremiah 29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. [kjv]
The verse in question, in context, appears very much to refer to the nation of Israel in the last days and their forced captivity from Jerusalem.

KJV: And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
Hebrew: ונמצאתי לכם נאם יהוה ושבתי את שביתכם וקבצתי אתכם מכל הגוים ומכל המקומות אשר הדחתי אתכם שם נאם יהוה והשבתי אתכם אל המקום אשר הגליתי אתכם משם׃
Greek: και επιφανουμαι υμιν
7. Context
That is, Israel will be gathered from all nations and will be brought to a place from where they were carried away captive.
The time they were gathered from all nations was 1948.
The place from where they were carried away captive was Judea at the time of the Babylonian captivity.
Looking at more verses before and after Jeremiah 29:13 makes this context even more clear.
8. Popular cherry pick
It is not a good idea to "
cherry-pick" verses out of context and apply them to other parts of the Bible. Always look at the context.
These verse, however, appears to be a favorite cherry picked verse, as in Internet search will quickly discover. This verse, out of context, is often used as a motivational card or poster.
