1. Doomsday as judgment day
The Middle English word "doom""judgment" and the Old English word "dome""judgment" and are the source of "doomsday" as in "judgment day".

6. Temptation and doomsday

In Old English, "doom" meant "judgment". Thus, "doomsday" means "judgment day". The ancient Greek word "πειράζω""examine" and is often translated in the KJV (King James Version) as "tempt". The Greek for "temptation" means an "examination" to deceive using what you think or know to be true.

Jesus tends to so the "verily I say unto you" (in this case plural) to tell the reader to connect the previous and following thoughts.
