At the time of Jesus, the Jews were expecting the "Messiah" as "kinsman redeemer" and the "King" as "avenger of blood" to replace the "evil rulers" of the world.
One can see the coming of the Messiah and not the King in Luke 4. Jesus stops in the middle of a sentence from Isaiah describing the Messiah and says that this is here fulfilled in your eyes.
The rest of the sentence from Isaiah is that of the "day of vengeance" as the "King" and "avenger of blood". That part was not to be fulfilled at that time. This upset those and by the end of the chapter they are ready to throw Jesus off a cliff.

In Luke 4, Jesus reads from Isaiah in the synagogue and then sits to teach a short lesson. Here is the passage from Isaiah.

The
KJV (King James Version) uses
"meek" but the
LXX (Septuagint), used by Jesus and Matthew, uses
"poor" as in those
"begging".
Jesus stopped after reading the "
acceptable year of the Lord". The part omitted was that of the "
Avenger of Blood". This appears to be the purpose of what is revealed in Revelation.
Jesus was coming only to fulfill the first part. The second part would have to wait until later. This is not what the people wanted to hear.

The "
gospel" here is the "
Good News".
The "
spirit" is the "
spirit of the Lord", not the "
wind of the Lord".
The "
poor", who lack the "
spirit", need the "
gospel" preached to them.
Do the "
rich" in resources need the "
gospel" preached to them? What about the "
poor" in resources?
Is the "
acceptable year of the Lord" the year that Jesus is reading this?

16. Beginning to say
Jesus "began to say". At this point, the congregation starts to have misgivings. They were expecting a conquering King and a spiritual Messiah. Jesus stopped in the middle of a sentence. What was the rest of the sentence, of which many in the congregation would be aware?
A short time later, they are ready to throw Jesus off a cliff. What is in Isaiah 61 that followed where Jesus stopped reading? Notice the "negation by failure" rule in the reasoning process .
