Jesus as Messiah and King
by RS  admin@creationpie.com : 1024 x 640

1. Jesus as Messiah and King

2. Jesus as Messiah and King
In the Bible, Jesus has two roles: Messiah and King.

Jesus
Messiah King
First coming Second coming
Kinsman redeemer Avenger of Blood
Love God and neighbor Love God and neighbor

The Jews at the time of Christ expected both and were disappointed in the "first coming". The phrase "Thy kingdom come" refers to that "second coming" to replace the "evil rulers" of this world with "Christ" as "King". Many details are in Revelation.

This idea shifted in the 4th century when the church hierarchy became employed by those "evil rulers".

3. Cities of refuge
The idea of a "kinsman redeemer" and "avenger of blood" appear as a "remez" in the cities of refuge.

Future topic Details are left as a future topic.

4. Messiah and Saviour
Jesus is our "Messiah" (Savior), in Hebrew, the "ma-shee-ack". The "Messiah" is associated with the "kinsman redeemer". Many details are in the book of Ruth.

משיח - Messiah, Anointed one The Hebrew word "משיח" (ma-shee-ack) ≈ "Messiah, Anointed one".
Jesus is also our "King" (Prince), in Hebrew, the "na-geed". The "King" is associated with the "avenger of blood". Many details are in the book of Revelation.

נגיד - Prince The Hebrew word "נגיד" (na-geed) ≈ "Prince".

5. Luke 4: Jesus reads in Luke and stops
At the time of Jesus, the Jews were expecting the "Messiah" as "kinsman redeemer" and the "King" as "avenger of blood" to replace the "evil rulers" of the world.

One can see the coming of the Messiah and not the King in Luke 4. Jesus stops in the middle of a sentence from Isaiah describing the Messiah and says that this is here fulfilled in your eyes.

The rest of the sentence from Isaiah is that of the "day of vengeance" as the "King" and "avenger of blood". That part was not to be fulfilled at that time. This upset those and by the end of the chapter they are ready to throw Jesus off a cliff.

6. Matthew 6:7-15 Lord's Prayer in Matthew
The Lord's prayer is in Matthew 6:9-13. The immediate context includes Matthew 6:7-15.

As with any verses, the context of the Lord's Prayer is important.
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.

7. Thy kingdom come
A reference to the King is in the Lord's Prayer in the phrase "Thy Kingdom Come".

In the time of Jesus and until the 4th century, the phrase "Thy kingdom come" refers to that second coming to replace the "evil rulers" of this world with "Christ" as "King". Many details are in Revelation.

This idea of "Thy kingdom come" to replace the "evil rulers" of this world shifted in the 4th century when the church hierarchy became employed by those "evil rulers".

To some, the modified idea was that Jesus would come in our hearts and not in a physical second coming.
