Genesis 10:8-12: Nimrod as son of Cush
1. Genesis 10:8-12: Nimrod as son of Cush
This content is being developed.
2. Hebrew word for son of
The Hebrew word "
Bar" means "
Son of", as in "
from the house of".
Simon Bar Jonah is "son of Jonah".
The sea of Bacchus is the "sea of the son of Cush" (i.e., the Caspian Sea, named after Nimrod, the son of Cush)
3. Genesis 10:8-12: Nimrod as son of Cush
Genesis 10:8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. [kjv]
10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. [kjv]
The
Roman god
Bacchus corresponds the
Greek god
Dionysus. Some make the connect of
Bacchus to Hebrew
Bar Cush is in "
Son of Cush" or
Nimrod from Genesis before/during/after the Tower of Babel. The Greek word for
"great" or "
mighty" in the
LXX (Septuagint) is the same
root as the
"giants" or
"Nephilim".
4. Genesis 10:8 Nimrod
Genesis 10:8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. [kjv]
[he]
5. Acts 17:34 Dionysus
Acts 17:34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them. [kjv]
… Dionisius Ariopagita … [v]
… Dionysius … senatour … [ty]
The Greek god
Dionysus is not in the Bible but a Greek by that name is mentioned in Acts 17:34 as an assemblyman, somewhat similar to a Roman senator (who, after Caesar, had no real power and were there mostly for appearance). Tyndale uses the word "
senatour" to describe his position.
The
Roman god
Bacchus corresponds the
Greek god
Dionysus. Some make the connect of
Bacchus to Hebrew
Bar Cush is in "
Son of Cush" or
Nimrod from Genesis before/during/after the Tower of Babel.
6. Revelation 17:3 Woman rides the beast
Revelation 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. [kjv]
In Revelation 17, a woman rides the beast. This is the basis of the book
A woman rides the beast, written by Dave Hunt. It was is available as a
PDF (Portable Document Format) on the Internet. (as of 2024-10-31)
The book has a lot of interesting research and conjectures, even if some of the conclusions are not accepted.
7. Genesis 6:4 Giants
Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. [kjv]
[he]
The Hebrew word
"הנפלים" (ha-ne-pi-lim) ≈ "Nephilim" is translated is
"giants" but these were more than just big and what we would call "
giants" today.
The English word
"Jared"comes from the Latin word
"Iared" ≈ "Jared" which comes from the ancient Greek word
"Ἰαρέδ" ≈ "Jared" which comes from the Hebrew word
"ירד" (yered) ≈ "descend, go down".
8. War of the gods: titans and giants
War of the gods:
Titans (New York Titans in the AFL, Tennessee Titans more recently)
Giants (New York Giants)
The "
bad" side, the Titans, were condemned to be sent to "
Tartarus", the lower part of the depths of "
hell".
Peter, written to Greeks, uses "Tartarus".
Jude does not mention the place.
(Josephus)
9. Josephus: Angels consorting
English: For many angels of God now consorted with women and begat sons who were overbearing and disdainful of every virtue, such confidence had they in their strength; in fact the deeds that tradition ascribes to them resemble the audacious exploits told by the Greeks of the giants. (Jewish Antiquities, I, 73)
(Loeb #242, p. 35)
Examples: Centaur, Minotaur, etc. Whatever happened, this appears to have happened before the flood of Noah (with some additional references after the flood).
Until the 4th century A.D.: Angels had relations with humans to create hybrids. (Josephus)
Introduced in the 4th century A.D.: Sons of Seth married the daughters of Cain. (Augustine)
Genetic engineering before the flood: In Genesis 5 and as recorded by Josephus in the first century, these fallen angels appear to have consorted (had relations) with women. This "
genetic" engineering created hybrids and was, in part, the reason for the flood of Noah. Noah was not "
perfect" but his genes were not corrupted.
10. Genesis 11:2 Shinar and the Tower of Babel
The land of
Shinar appears to be at or near the site of the
Tower of Babel.
Genesis 11:2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. [kjv]
If, sometime after the flood, they came from the
east, then might Mount Ararat (mountain range of Ararat) be in the
east (Iran) rather than in the
west (Turkey)?
11. Helena and Rome under Constantine
The mother of Constantine,
Helena, toured the Roman Empire looking for historical sites of the Bible. Wherever these sites were declared, religious sites, churches, monasteries, etc., sprang up.
It was convenient that two important sites were found by Helena within the bounds of the Roman Empire at that time, despite Biblical indications that the site was elsewhere.
Noah's Ark in Turkey (Bible appears to indicate Iran, in Genesis).
Mount Sinai in the Sinai Peninsula (in two places the Bible indicates Arabia)
12. Tower of Babel
This stone carving (above) was found in Iraq near the ancient city of Babylon (Baghdad). Historians falsely interpret this illustration so I invite you to look at it carefully. There are clearly two suns in the sky and everyone is looking up at them. The tallest figure (wearing the horns of the bull... Nimrod's old crown) appears to be a giant. Giants in the Bible were roughly 18 feet tall. The dome-shaped object is too perfect to be a mountain peak. Instead, imagine that it's the "top" of the Tower of Babel.

22. Bacchus: Roman god of wine
Genesis 9:20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: [kjv]
9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. [kjv]
Bacchus was the Roman god of wine. The name appears to have been derived from the Semitic "
bar Cush" as in "
son of Cush" as in "
Nimrod".
Interestingly, Noah was noted to have cultivated grapes and made wine and gotten drunk (recorded in Genesis).
23. Genesis 9:20
KJV: And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
Hebrew: ויחל נח איש האדמה ויטע כרם׃

Turcici Imperii Imago has the
Caspian Sea as the
Mare De Bachu.

26. Baku on the Caspian Sea

The city of Baku is located on the western shores of the (land-locked)
Caspian Sea. The popular etymology is that the name
Baku comes from the Persian for "
wind-pounded city".
Another folk etymology is that the name
Baku means "
God's town". One connection is that the name of
Baghdad means "
God given" and that the prefix is related to the Russian word for "
God".
It is interesting that
Baku and
Bacchus appear to be related by sound.
27. Genesis 10:8
KJV: And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

29. Genesis 10:10 Kingdoms and Shinar
The beginning of the kingdoms of Nimrod are listed in Genesis 10:10.
Genesis 10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. [kjv]
