There are many prophecies of the Jesus and the cross in the Bible.

Some prophecies of Jesus and the cross, not covered here, will be in future lessons.

Saint Augustine (Early Christian father) :
One can find hints of this "after the fact", but such truths are not plain or obvious "before the fact".

Do you see it? Do you need to see to believe? Or can you believe and then see?

4. Passover and the lunar cycle
Moon phases Sun, Earth and Moon
The Hebrew calendar was a lunar calendar based on the phases of the moon.
A lunar cycle (today) is about 29.53 days. The Hebrew Passover was at the full moon, or about day 14 or 15 of a 29.5 day cycle. The name goes back to Hebrew slavery in Egypt and the story of the Exodus or, literally, "way out", during the full moon. Early Christians referred to "the way".

Obviously it would be hard to get an exact timing, but, over time, one could get fairly close in order to establish religious festivals, etc.

What is a full moon?
[Jesus: No one gets there except by me].

5. Exodus 12: Passover
The name "Passover" comes from the night before the Hebrews departed from Egypt and the angel of death "passed over" them (if they did what they were supposed to have done).

The Hebrew word "פסח" (pe-sach) ≈ "passover".
פסח - passover
Most languages, with the notable exceptions of English and German, use a name that originates in the Hebrew for "Passover".

The English name for "Easter" is based, not on "Passover", but on "east" which is related to the golden egg (sun, fertility, etc.) of "Astarte".

Who is the "passover" "lamb" born in the "House of Bread" who "broke the rules" for you and me?

The Latin word "tingo""wet, moisten, dip, dye" and is the source of the English word "tincture", "tinge" and "intinction" as a means of communion by "dipping" the bread in the wine.

10. Baptized and splashed with the blood
Kanisza Triangle What is it?

The Hebrew instructions for "splashing the blood" for "Passover" have the effect of creating an optical illusion of the "cross". The Greek for "dip" in the LXX (Septuagint) is the same word as for "baptize".

The blood is to be splashed, as in "strike", on the "lintel" and the two "side posts". [Moses and the rock]

Verse route12:24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. [kjv]

The separation is not by: The separation is by those whose door is washed in the blood., whether Hebrew or Egyptian (non-Hebrews).

Verse routeintinxisset … [v]
Verse routeeintauche … [lu]

Jesus talks to Judas at the Last Supper. The Latin "intinxisset" is the origin of the word for the sacrament of "intinction". So one must be careful to "distinguish" between "extinction" and "intinction".

17. Passover in Greek
The modern Greek word for "Easter" is "Πάσχα" (PA-skha) ≈ "Passover, Easter" which means "the Passover", the Christian religious holiday when Jesus was crucified.

Modern Greek has modifiers for the Jewish passover.

18. Kanizsa triangle: seeing what is not there
Kanisza TriangleWe often see or perceive things that are not actually there. Do you see the triangle?

There is no triangle! Your brain makes the triangle that you see. The eye just passed along the image information to the brain which organizes ind recognizes it.
Abstraction involves looking at similarities and differences and filling in missing details - sometimes appropriately, sometimes inappropriately. This abstraction can be used to deceive by providing some details but leaving other details to be filled in by unsuspecting listeners or viewers.

19. Matthew 12:26-29 Snatching the raptured goods from the strong man
Verse routeMatthew 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. [kjv]

Exodus and way outThe GNT (Greek New Testament) word for "spoil" is the ancient Greek word "ἁρπάζω""snatch away, carry off" and may be related to the ancient Greek word "ἅρπη""bird of prey" as a hawk or falcon and which may be related to the PIE (Proto Indo-European) root for "reap", "harvest", "sickle". This word for "snatch" is sometimes translated "rapture" or "ravenous" as in "wolves".
The ancient Greek word "σκευή""vessel" as something that is made but can refer to "people" as in a "chosen vessel".

Camp of Israel spreadsheet values for north side Camp of Israel spreadsheet values for south side Camp of Israel spreadsheet values for east side Camp of Israel spreadsheet values for west side Camp of Israel spreadsheet values Camp of Israel by tribe groups
The book of Numbers is named for the detailed census appearing in Numbers 2. The details can be boring but are part of an "algorithm" provided by God for their camp in the desert.
If the Israelites in the desert had followed the "algorithm" provided by God as how to precisely camp, their camp would have been laid out in the shape of a cross from the point of view of the "rising sun" in the morning.

Notice the top-down nature of the reporting with the summary totals first and then the details.

Something is strange about this battle. When did the battle go well? When did the battle not go well?

Moses is exhausted, but must stay there the entire day. His helpers come to the rescue.

Moses had to stay there until the sun was going down. How long was Christ on the cross?

How hard is it to do battle? Can we do battle by ourselves? Or do we need help? When did the battle finally end?

How might Moses on the hill have appeared to those fighting on the ground during the fog of war?

People like to venerate and worship created objects. Let us go forward about 800 years to the time of Hezekiah. What happened to that serpent and pole of brass in the Wilderness? Hezekiah was considered a good king.

Verse route2 Kings 18:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. [kjv]
Verse routeκαι εποιησεν το ευθες εν οφθαλμοις κυριου κατα παντα οσα εποιησεν δαυιδ ο πατηρ αυτου [lxx]
Verse route18:4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. [kjv]

The people had worshiped the created serpent rather than the creator who saved them.

43. Historical interpretation of church history
Churches in Revelation Beatitudes
Kingdom parables The probability that all three would be ordered together is 1 in 5040*5040*5040 or 1 in 128,024,064,000128 billion.
Some people prefer to just use church history to help remember the order of the churches, parables and beatitudes.

The horizontal scale is time. The vertical scale is the proportion that history evidences the traits of those verses. The historical interpretation is like a linear combination in mathematics in that what the verses say is more valid in some time periods than other time periods.

The probability that any 7 objects would be ordered at random in a given order is 7! = 7*6*5*4*3*2*1 or 1 in 5040. Note that there were many more possible churches or parables or beatitudes than used by Jesus.

46. Bowling pin layout
Bowling pins Tetractys 2 Tetractys 8 TPS 10

The tetractys pattern is the same as the bowling pin layout, except that the base is at the back and the one pin is in the front.

The TenWordPin model does not appear to need many of the interior transitions (vertical) from node to node. The sequential ordering is needed.

For 10 (ten) nodes or elements, there are 10! (ten factorial) or 3,628,800 ways or permutations of arranging those elements. There are 45 possible edges so there are 245 or about 35,000,000,000,000 ways (subsets of edges) to include or exclude each edge in the model. Some models work better than other models.
