The age of werewolfs in the world
1. The age of werewolfs in the world
The Wessex Gospel uses the Old English word for "
world" as "
werolde" or "
werold".
Matthew 13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. [kjv]
… werolde aendunge. [wes]
The English word "
world" comes from the prefix "
wer" for man, as in "
werewolf" or "
man wolf" and "
ald" for "
age".
Thus the English word "
world" means literally the "
age of man". The "
after life" comes after the "
world".
2. Matthew 13:40
KJV: As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
Greek: ωσπερ ουν συλλεγεται τα ζιζανια και πυρι κατακαιεται ουτως εσται εν τη συντελεια του αιωνος τουτου
Luther: Gleichwie man nun das Unkraut ausjätet und mit Feuer verbrennet, so wird's auch am Ende dieser Welt gehen.
The German word
"Welt" ≈ "world" is a shortening of the Old High German "
weralt".
The Spanish word
"mundo" ≈ "world, society" comes from the Latin word
"mundus" ≈ "the world" which appears to come from a
PIE (Proto Indo-European) root meaning "
to adorn".
Another Latin word
"orbis" ≈ "world" from which we get the word "
orbit".
3. Unpardonable sin
Matthew 12:32 And who soever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but who soever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. [kjv]
… werolde. … [wes]
4. Matthew 12:32
KJV: And who soever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but who soever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Greek: και ος αν εαν ειπη λογον κατα του υιου του ανθρωπου αφεθησεται αυτω ος δ αν ειπη κατα του πνευματος του αγιου ουκ αφεθησεται αυτω ουτε εν τουτω τω αιωνι ουτε εν τω μελλοντι
Wessex: & swa hlyc swa cweð word on-gen mannes sunu him byð forgefen. Se þe soðlice cweð on-gen haligne gast. ne byð hit him for-gefen. ne on þissere werolde. ne on þare to-wearden.
5. Mammon
Luke 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. [kjv]
… werold-weolen … [wes]
The Old English word
"weroldweolen" ≈ "worldly ways" is used for the ancient Greek word
"μαμωνα" ≈ "mammon" which is the English word
"mammon".
6. Luke 16:9
KJV: And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
Greek: καγω και εγω υμιν λεγω ποιησατε εαυτοις ποιησατε φιλους εκ του μαμωνα της αδικιας ινα οταν εκλιπητε εκλιπη δεξωνται υμας εις τας αιωνιους σκηνας
Wessex: And ic segge eow wyrceð eow freond of þisse werold-weolen unrihtwisnesse. þaet hyo un-fon eow on echen earding-stowen þonne ge ge-teoriað.
7. Warwick
A place name such as "
Warwick" comes from the root for "
man" (as in the first part of "
werewolf") and the root of "
world" and "
wick" for "
town".
