Painting: Last Supper by Da vinci

2. The Last Supper: the guest-chamber
Verse routeMark 14:14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? [kjv]
Verse routeκαι οπου εαν εισελθη ειπατε τω οικοδεσποτη οτι ο διδασκαλος λεγει που εστιν το καταλυμα μου οπου το πασχα μετα των μαθητων μου φαγω [gnt]

Icon: Last supperHere is an icon (image) of the Greek Orthodox Church that I have in my office, to remind me of Jesus at the Last Supper.

The Last Supper is taken in the prepared "guestchamber" - an "upper room". The same Greek word is translated as "Inn" in the Christmas story.
The New Testament or Covenant is given by which the Eucharist of the bread and wine is taken in remembrance.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the town of Ruth and Boaz. Bethlehem's main industry was raising passover lambs for the temple in Jerusalem. Jesus would become our passover lamb

3. Mark 14:14
   Mark 14:14
 All
KJV: And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
Greek: και οπου εαν εισελθη ειπατε τω οικοδεσποτη οτι ο διδασκαλος λεγει που εστιν το καταλυμαμου οπου το πασχα μετα των μαθητων μου φαγω
Latin: et quocumque introierit dicite domino domus quia magister dicit ubi est refectio mea ubi pascha cum discipulis meis manducem
Let us continue with the story in Luke.

4. Leaven: the yeast of these
Verse routeMatthew 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. [kjv]
Verse routeτοτε συνηκαν οτι ουκ ειπεν προσεχειν απο της ζυμης των αρτων αλλα απο της διδαχης των φαρισαιων και σαδδουκαιων [gnt]

Leaven is used in bread to make it rise. In the Gospels, Jesus uses the term as a code word to refer to the religious leaders of the time being "puffed up" or to refer to a distortion of religious principles as in false doctrine or teaching. Unleavened bread was used in the Exodus from Egypt as there was not time to let the bread rise.

5. Luke 22:7 Hebrew matza bread
Verse routeLuke 22:7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. [kjv]
Verse routeηλθεν δε η ημερα των αζυμων η εδει θυεσθαι το πασχα [gnt]

Matso, matza or matza flat-bread
Matza is an unleavened flat-bread that is popular in Israel and part of the observance of Passover and appears in Exodus (some verses above). The Hebrew word "םצה" (matza) ≈ "matza".
םצה - matza
The "day of unleavened bread" is the day when there was not time to "leaven" the bread, time to allow it to rise.

6. Passover lamb
The "Passover lamb" was to be slaughtered. at Passover. This story and tradition goes back to the Exodus from Egypt led by Moses under the direction and power of God.

7. Bethlehem
Map: Nazareth, Jerusalem, BethlehemBaby Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a small town six miles south-east of Jerusalem whose primary economy was raising lambs for the yearly Passover. Today, the primary economy of some farms is to grow fir trees for Christmas.
This is the same little town where Ruth, as a type of the "Church" and the grandmother of David, met Boaz, the "Kinsman Redeemer" as a type of "Jesus". Naoma appears to be a type of the "Holy Spirit".

12. Reservation
At the birth of Jesus there was no place in the world at the guest room for Jesus. At the Last Supper in the guest room, Jesus says he is making a place for us that is not of this world.

Verse routeαπελθοντες δε ευρον καθως ειρηκει αυτοις και ητοιμασαν το πασχα [gnt]

The ancient Greek word "ἀνώγεον""upper room" and is, literally, "above ground". What is the relationship between the "guestchamber" and the "upper room"?

It is time! Jesus says to get ready for a pre-arranged meeting at the guest room. Is the place he is preparing pre-arranged too?

13. Upper room guestchamber

Word usage per chapter Words: αναγαιον=2

The ancient Greek word "ἀνώγεον""upper room" and is, literally, "above ground".

19. Strongs - furnished

20. Usage - furnished
*G4766 *6 στρώννυμι (strone'-noo-mee) : stronnuo strone-noo'-o, prolongation from a still simpler stroo stro'-o, (used only as an alternate in certain tenses) (probably akin to G4731 through the idea of positing); to "strew," i.e. spread (as a carpet or couch):--make bed, furnish, spread, strew.
Word usage per chapter Words: εστρωμενον=2 εστρωσαν=3 στρωσον

The ancient Greek word "στόρνυμι""smooth out, spread" .

21. Furnished and spread

Verse routeκαι αυτος υμιν δειξει αναγαιον μεγα εστρωμενον ετοιμον και εκει ετοιμασατε ημιν [gnt]

The KJV (King James Version) translates as "prepared" and then "ready" for what in the Greek is the same word "ready".

The ancient Greek word "στόρνυμι""smooth out, spread" . This idea is present in English in referring to a banquet as quote a "spread". This word for "spread" was used previously and is the source of the English word "stroma" as a geological or medical term.

Verse route11:8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. [kjv]
Verse routeκαι πολλοι τα ιματια αυτων εστρωσαν εις την οδον αλλοι δε στιβαδας κοψαντες εκ των αγρων [gnt]

Might there be a connection between the two usages?

22. Stroma
The ancient Greek word "στρῶμα""layer, bed, bed covering" and is the source of the English word "stroma" as a medical or biological term.
Book: Miscellanies (Stromata)

Verse routeειπεν δε αυτοις αλλα νυν ο εχων βαλλαντιον αρατω ομοιως και πηραν και ο μη εχων πωλησατω το ιματιον αυτου και αγορασατω μαχαιραν [gnt]

If the previous remarks about "purse" and "script" apply to everyone then so does the remarks about the "sword". That is, everyone needs a "sword".
Sword horizontal
Do you have a sword?

Jesus tells everyone to "buy" a "sword". Do you need to "sell" something, such as your outer layer or "garment" to "purchase" that "sword"? For what might that "sword" be needed?

29. John 13:4-5 Last supper
Verse routeJohn 13:4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. [kjv]

Verse routeειτα βαλλει υδωρ εις τον νιπτηρα και ηρξατο νιπτειν τους ποδας των μαθητων και εκμασσειν τω λεντιω ω ην διεζωσμενος [gnt]

At the Last Supper, Jesus provides an example. This then, appears to be the way that one "sells" (gives up) his "garment" to "buy" (obtain) a "sword" needed to access the "tree of life".

30. John 13:4 Last supper

Verse routeεγειρεται εκ του δειπνου και τιθησιν τα ιματια και λαβων λεντιον διεζωσεν εαυτον [gnt]

The English, "Jesus riseth ... and girded himself" has a double-meaning in the Greek. Paraphrase of double-meaning and pun: The idea may be that to "wakeup" and "sell" your "garment" to, with you attitude and behavior, "buy" a "sword", so that you can be "saved".
