Jerusalem and trees

1. Jerusalem and trees
Fractal tree animatedAt one time, Jerusalem had many trees, gardens, etc. During the Jewish War, the Romans cut down the trees to make siege works, etc.

Trees, with roots, trunk, branches, leaves, etc. are used to represent many ideas both in computer science and other fields.

3. Josephus
English: And now the Romans, although they were greatly distressed in getting together their materials, raised their banks in one and twenty days, after they had cut down all the trees that were in the country that adjoined to the city, and that for ninety furlongs round about, as I have already related. And truly the very view itself of the country was a melancholy thing; for those places which were before adorned with trees and pleasant gardens were now become a desolate country every way, and its trees were all cut down: nor could any foreigner that had formerly seen Judea and the most beautiful suburbs of the city, and now saw it as a desert, but lament and mourn sadly at so great a change: for the war had laid all the signs of beauty quite waste: Josephus. Jewish War. Book 6. Chapter 1. Section 1. Translation by William Whiston (1737)
A furlong, from "furrow long", is 1/8 of a mile (220 yards). This is about the distance that an ox could plow a field without a rest. So 88 furlongs is about 11 miles. The English word "inch" comes from the Latin word "uncia""one twelfth".

4. Greek
(this Greek does not appear to match, will adjust later)

5. Climb a tree
Verse routeLuke 19:3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. [kjv]
Verse route19:4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. [kjv]

Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, appears to be "short". At least that is what we are told. Is it possible that his "maturity" was not of "age"? The KJV (King James Version) translates as "into" what in the Greek is "on" or "onto" as in "onto a branch" (of the tree). The "climbed" is inferred as the Greek has "went up".
The KJV has "press" where the Greek has "crowd".

6. Climbing a tree to change
You must be this tall to ride Climate change

Whisper chain age to heightIn Luke 19, Zacchaeus, who was young and not necessarily short, climbs a tree. Jesus calls him down and Zacchaeus has his life changed - all for the climbing of a tree.
This is an early documented instance of "climb-it change". And, indeed, the climate has changed for anyone listening to the call of Jesus - no matter how high they think they have climbed the ladder of (worldly) success. Are you climbing the right ladder? Do not be wrong later ("rung ladder").

How can one get climate change?

A decision tree allows one to quantify decisions that need to be made.

Let us look at a simple "fix-it" decision tree for something that may or may not work properly and what might need to be done to make it work properly.

The simplest decision trees assume only two possibilities at each decision point are event point (state of nature).

10. Genesis 1: A seed within itself, the chicken or the egg
Verse routeGenesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. [kjv]

Chicken and Egg Tree with twigs - fruit
In general, the question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg" refers to a situation where there are two objects that each depend on the other and the problem is to determine which came first.
Somehow, the information for the egg needs to be within the chicken. This is a self-referential system.

In Genesis 1:11-12 we have an example of this with fruit, "whose seed is in itself". Modern self-replicating programs provide an example of this idea.

11. Fruit at harvest time
Verse routeMark 4:29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. [kjv]

Fractal treeFruit is often gathered at harvest time - a word which often means autumn, crops, harvest time, or all or any of these. The English word "harvest" is related to the ancient Greek word "καρπός""fruit" from the PIE (Proto Indo-European) root "*KERP""pluck".

The hard "k", the intermediate "g" and "gh", and the soft or missing "h" are related and change throughout the linguistic history of language development. In a similar manner, the "p" and "f" and "v" sounds are related.

Jesus - rock man - sand
The organizational chart of Jesus has one level, the leaves.

How might a large human organization that has "evil" or "burdensome" parts change?
Ross Perot in 1992 referring to organizations: Quality starts at the top. When I heard that in 1992, I added what I think Perot was implying: Lack of quality starts at the top..

13. Matthew 12:33 Good and bad trees
Verses 6
Verse routeMatthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. [kjv]

Notice that the Latin uses the same word for the Greek "rotten" "fruit" in verse 33 and for "evil" man in verse 35. It is reasonable to assume that if Jesus intended these two be the same, Matthew would have used the same Greek word in each verse.

A mountain represents an empire. A tree represents the human infrastructure of an empire. The root of the tree represents the human leader. In computer science, a single person would be a (degenerate) tree structure. That is, a tree with no branches and one leaf - the root of the (degenerate) tree.

14. Matthew 12:33 Good and rotten fruit
Verses 6
Verse routeMatthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. [kjv]

Assume that the "tree" represents a human hierarchy as in a religious establishment such as the one Jesus is addressing. Here are the choices provided. This verse would not need to be said unless something else were happening.

It appears that the "rotten" "tree" was trying to make the fruit appear as "good" fruit. Why would a "good" "tree" try to make the fruit appear as "rotten"? Might any "idle words" used to make the fruit appear "good" need an "accounting"?

Jesus is the "vine" and we are the "branches" (of the vine, not the tree).
