51. United Methodist Apostles Creed
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
...
The line "he descended to the dead" is in the Ecumenical version but not the Traditional version.

53. Usage - under the earth
54. Every tongue shall confess
Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [kjv]
και πασα γλωσσα εξομολογησηται οτι κυριος ιησους χριστος εις δοξαν θεου πατρος [gnt]
Every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord. This is a mental and not a physical phenomena. Paul adds the Greek prefix for "
ex" as in "
out of" as in "
completely".
The ancient Greek word
"ὁμολογέω" ≈ "agree" and means, literally, "
same reasoning" or "
same explanation" and can be "
same word" if "
word" is taken as "
reasoning".
Since words can be deceptive, one should agree on the
reasoning of the
meanings of the important things instead of agreeing on
words - if the words are at all ambiguous.

Note that, in reasoning, "
idle words" are words that do "
not work" for Christ.
58. Song: He is Lord
The very short hymn "
He is Lord" was written by Steve Vest in 1969. It is based on Philippians 2:11.
Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [kjv]
Steve Vest:
I wrote the lyrics and tune of "He is Lord" in the spring of 1969. I was very active among the Jesus People. My original song only has two verses. Too many verses take away from the flow of the melody. It was written like a slow-motion roller coaster ride. ... Hymnary.org (as of 2022-10-13)
Note: Over time, others have added additional verses.
