The Greek language had few words for what today is called a "
street". The
KJV (King James Version) translates as "
street" words that often had other meanings.
Way: To follow "after" a "path" was a "method" and the source of the English word "method".
Traffic: A thoroughfare where there was movement and hustle and bustle and "flow" of traffic was one type of "street".
Place: A large "plaza" or open area, some with "corners", is often translated as "street".
One might need to find a "
path" through the "
flow" of "
traffic" through a "
plaza".

The following is conducive to a play on words in the Greek. Paul appears to do this once in Ephesians 4:14. The Greek for "
doctrine" is that of "
teaching".
"ἄνεμος" ≈ "wind, breeze, gale" and often used in verses with Satin or the devil as "accuser" throwing/breathing accusations.
"ἄνομος" ≈ "without law" which could be "lawless", "impious", "unmusical", "illegal", etc.
English: ... carried about by every wind of teaching.
Play on words: ... carried about by every without-law teaching.
Any teaching that goes against "
Loving God" or "
Loving neighbor as yourself" would be "
without-law" or "
against-law".

"wiles of the devil" might be thought of as the
"methods of the devil" as in a trap to deceive those. In both cases in Ephesians, the word for
"method" is not used in a positive light. Deception has been an important part of military operations since time began.
This analogy would be familiar to any soldier of the time as deception was common in military operations. Alexander the Great made great use of deception since he usually had a much smaller force than his opponents. The Romans were deceived at a devastating ambush at Teuteburg Forest about 9 A.D.

Stand up stand up for Jesus" was written by George Duffield, Jr., after the death of Dudley Tyng from a farm accident during the Great Revival of 1858. One of Tyng's last words to his father: "

There is a Greek word for
"directly" as in a
"straight line" and comes from that idea of geometry. The ancient Greek word
"εὐθέως" ≈ "immediately, at once, straightway" and can, depending on context, mean shortly or soon.
The city of Damascus had a street named
"straight" which still exists today. It was part of the main Roman road through that area, used for commerce, troop movement, etc. It was about a mile long (1500 meters). Paul stayed in a house on this street.

By definition, a
"street" is a
"thoroughfare" with
"hustle and bustle" and will have
many people there to see what one is doing. An open area or
"plaza" (in the following set of verses) may not have many people there to see what one is doing.
The ancient Greek word
"ῥύμη" ≈ "force of a body in motion, charge of soldiers" and, only in the
GNT (four times) and once in the
LXX translated as "
street". The use in the
GNT and
LXX appears to be that of a
thoroughfare with
"hustle and bustle".
The word appears to have been at one time used as a "
street" in a military camp. Some similar sounding Greek words are the following.

Eugene Bartlett (1885-1941) wrote the words and music to the hymn "
Victory in Jesus". The last verse of the song "
Victory in Jesus" talks about a "
mansion".
Born in Missouri, moved to Arkansas, music store business
In 1939, at age 54, he suffered a stroke, then wrote "Victory in Jesus".
