prism splits/refracts white light into components based on the wavelength of the light. Likewise, a rainbow splits light into the respective components.

rainbow needs water droplets in the air to be seen. Water vapor is not sufficient.

These verses are sometimes taken to represent a vapor canopy over the earth that kept it warm and without big differences in the seasons. The reasoning goes that before the flood, without water droplets in the air, there would be no rainbows. Once the vapor canopy collapsed, after the flood, there would have been rainbows and greater differences between seasons.
There were probably lots of mosquitoes in that warm moist air under the vapor canopy. The Greek word for "
mosquito" and the English word
"canopy" are related.

Color is visual information. A rainbow has a continuous range of colors (i.e. wavelengths of light).
Aristotle saw 3 colors:
red,
green and
blue or
sea-purple. He did notice a fringe of
yellow on one side.
Isaac Newton saw 5 colors but considered 7 a special number (e.g., in the diatonic musical scale, etc.) and so added two colors: orange and indigo.
Today, most people consider a rainbow to have 7 colors. Everyone sees the same phenomena, but different people see different colors in different ways.

Aristotle is talking about colors that can be produced by painters.
English: ... for they (painters) produce some colours by a mixture of others, but red, green and blue cannot be produced in this way, and these are the colors of the rainbow - though between the red and green band there often appears a yellow one. (Loeb#397, p. 243)

Aristotle saw 3 colors:

The ancient Greek word
"ἁλουργής" ≈ "sea-purple", not used in the
GNT or
LXX (Septuagint), is a genuine purple in contrast to an imitation purple. It comes from two Greek words.
"ἅλς" ≈ "sea" and is related to words for "salt".
"ἔρδω" ≈ "make" as in being "wrought".

The ancient Greek word
"πορφύρα" ≈ "purple".
Tyrian purple was known as
"royal purple",
"imperial purple",
"imperial dye", etc.
Extracted in Tyre, the basis was a small sea snail. So many sea snails were required, and the time long, that the cost of the resulting dye was very expensive. The color did not quickly fade but usually become more brighter.
Aristotle (Greek) describes the process used. Pliny the Elder (Latin) described much later.
Only the rich could afford it so it became a status symbol. Eventually, in the fourth century, only royalty were allowed to wear it.

The ancient Greek word
"πορφύρα" ≈ "purple".
Lydia, the seller of purple (i.e., cloth) is only mentioned in Acts 16:14. This was the expensive
"purple" cloth. Three hundred years later, only royalty were allow to wear this color.
At one time, there were (at least) two womens dress shops on Market Street in Elizabethtown. What were the names?

Matthew uses the word for
"scarlet" or
"red" which would have been much more available. This Greek word for
"red" had allusions to the power of Rome in Judea.
This color was produced from a small insect that appeared to be a seed, so the Greek word became the word for the insect, the color
"red" or
"scarlet" and the word for "
seed".
Some soldiers would have "
mocked" Jesus out of scorn. Some soldiers would have done it to psychologically cope issues of having to do things they would rather not do.

"threshing floor" would have been at a place on a hill that had sufficient wind to blow the chaff away. Boaz would have been there to work into the night and the sleep there to keep the grain safe from being stolen and then continue threshing in the morning.

smart" weapons have the ability to hit their target with great precision on the very first (and only) shot.
The Greek word for
"arrows" as used in Jeremiah 50:9 appears to refer to what today is called a "
smart weapon" - one that hits the target and never misses.

prudent" is not the usual Greek word for "
prudent". That idea appears to come through the Latin Vulgate which uses the Latin word
"prudentibus" ≈ "prudent" and is the source of the English word "
prudent".
The way Jesus says this, it is clear that being "
wise" and the second Greek word, which appears
not to mean "
prudent", is not a compliment. Jesus repeats the same idea in Matthew 15:16 when talking to the disciples.
15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? [kjv]

In Tolkien's trilogy Lord of the Rings, Legolas is an archer whose arrow never misses.
In real life, arrows miss. Unless they have some intelligence built into the arrow (or missile).
Tolkien, a devout Catholic, worked many Bible themes and ideas into his writings, just as his colleague and friend C. S. Lewis did with his writing's.
