Giving attention to accepting the Ten Commandments
by RS  admin@creationpie.com : 1024 x 640

1. Attention to tension
Book: A brief history of attention Tension

Here we give "attention" to "accepting" and/or "receiving" of the "ten" commandments.

2. Hebrew oath: seven oneself
In Hebrew, the word for "seven" and the word for "oath" is the same. That is, it has the same Hebrew letters but may have been pronounced somewhat differently. שבע - seven
The value of seven was considered complete and/or lucky. The take an oath or vow was literally to "seven oneself".

So in the Hebrew, "Beer-sheba" is two words. The first word (on the right) is "well" and the second word (on the left) is "oath". That is, "well of the oath".

3. Ezekiel 38:2 Gog
Gog appears in an interesting end times prophecy in Ezekiel that appears to talk about the use of nuclear weapons. Ezekiel 38 is about the attack and defeat while Ezekiel 39 is about the required cleanup after the battle.

Verse routeEzekiel 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, [kjv]
Verse routeυιε ανθρωπου στηρισον το προσωπον σου επι γωγ και την γην του μαγωγ αρχοντα ρως μοσοχ και θοβελ και προφητευσον επ αυτον [lxx]
Verse routeSon of man, set your face against Gog, and the land of Magog, Rhos, prince of Mesoch and Thobel, and prophesy against him, [bs3]

Did the LXX (Septuagint) add the name of the "chief prince" as "ρως""Rhos", the traditional name of Russia? Or might it have been removed from the HOT (Hebrew Old Testament)? Another prominent attacker is in the land of Persia or, today, Iran.

4. Ezekiel 38:4-5 Gog
Verse routeEzekiel 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: [kjv]
Verse route38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: [kjv]
Verse routeπερσαι και αιθιοπες και λιβυες παντες περικεφαλαιαις και πελταις [lxx]

5. Ezekiel 39:2
Verse routeEzekiel 39:2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: [kjv]
Verse routeκαι συναξω σε και καθοδηγησω σε και αναβιβω σε απ εσχατου του βορρα και αναξω σε επι τα ορη του ισραηλ [lxx]

The Hebrew idea is that of "sixthing" them or destroying one "sixth" of them.

The English idea, from the Latin, is that of "decimate" as in "tenth" them as in destroying one "tenth" of them.

6. Ezekiel 39:2
   Ezekiel 39:2
 All
KJV: And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
Hebrew: ושבבתיך וששאתיך והעליתיך מירכתי צפון והבאותך על הרי ישראל׃
Greek: και συναξω σε και καθοδηγησω σε και αναβιβω σε απ εσχατου του βορρα και αναξω σε επι τα ορη του ισραηλ

7. Matthew 20:24
Verse routeMatthew 20:24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. [kjv]
Verse routeκαι ακουσαντες οι δεκα ηγανακτησαν περι των δυο αδελφων [gnt]
Verse routedecem … [v]
Verse routeZehnzwei … [lu]
Verse routeдесять … [rus]

Matthew uses the Greek word for "ten" a few times. Jesus uses the Greek word for "ten" twice (in Matthew) - Matthew 25 in the parable of the "ten" virgins and in the parable of the talents in regards to the one servant with "ten" talents.

8. Matthew 20:24
 All
KJV: And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
Greek: και ακουσαντες οι δεκα ηγανακτησαν περι των δυο αδελφων
Latin: et audientes decem indignati sunt de duobus fratribus
Luther: Da das die Zehn höreten, wurden sie unwillig über die zwei Brüder.
Russian: Услышав сие, прочие десять учеников вознегодовали на двух братьев.

9. Matthew 25:1 Ten virgins
Verse routeMatthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. [kjv]
Verse routeτοτε ομοιωθησεται η βασιλεια των ουρανων δεκα παρθενοις αιτινες λαβουσαι τας λαμπαδας εαυτων εξηλθον εις υπαντησιν του νυμφιου [gnt]

If Jesus and you do a "high" "five", that would be a total of "ten".

Are the "ten" "words" or "commandments" enough? Had these "ten" "virgins" "accepted" or "received" the "Ten" "Words"?

10. Matthew 25:28 Take the talent
Verse routeMatthew 25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. [kjv]
Verse routeαρατε ουν απ αυτου το ταλαντον και δοτε τω εχοντι τα δεκα ταλαντα [gnt]

Had these "three" "servants" "accepted" or "received" the "Ten" Commandments or "Words"?

To put a "talent" in the "ground" is to put a "talent" into "sand". In the houses built on rock and sand, Luke, based an what people remembered, changes the Greek word for "sand" to "earth" or "ground". Thus, the two appear to have been thought of as similar.

The Greek word for "sand" creates a play on words with "mammon" used earlier in the Sermon on the Mount.

11. Giving attention to accepting the Ten Commandments
Verse routeMatthew 18:5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. [kjv]
Verse routeκαι ος εαν δεξηται εν παιδιον τοιουτο επι τω ονοματι μου εμε δεχεται [gnt]

Does Jesus ever refer, directly or indirectly, to the "Ten Commandments"?

Jesus does say that you need to "accept" or "receive" Him as He "accepts" or "receives" you.

12. Exodus 20:1-26 The Ten Commandments
Ten commandments
The "Ten Commandments" appear in several places in the OT (Old Testament).
The Latin word "decaloge""ten words" comes from the ancient Greek word "δεκάλογος""ten words" and is the source of the English word "Decalogue".

The Jewish people and Hebrew texts refer to these as the "Ten Words". There are various forms of the "Ten Commandments" use by Protestants, Catholics, etc.

13. Ten Commandments
Here is a shortened version of each of the Ten Commandments.

C 0 1. Do not have any other Gods.
2. Do not make idols.
3. Do not take God's name in vain.
4. Keep the Sabbath holy.
5. Honor father and mother.
6. Do not kill.
7. Do not commit adultery.
8. Do not steal.
9. Do not lie (against neighbor).
10. Do not covet.

15. Matthew 18:5 If received or accepted
Verse routeMatthew 18:5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. [kjv]
Verse routeκαι ος εαν δεξηται εν παιδιον τοιουτο επι τω ονοματι μου εμε δεχεται [gnt]

The ancient Greek word "δέχομαι""receive, accept, take, believe". The use of "receive" or "accept" word twice ensures that this is a commutative relationship in that it goes both ways and sets up an equality of sorts. This becomes important at the end of the discourse.

Paraphrase: And if someone receives/accepts one little child such as this on the name of mine receives/accepts me.

Does this mean that one only has to "accept" a "child" that has "accepted" Jesus to have "accepted" Jesus? Does this make sense? Would false leaders or false teachers "accept" a "child" in order to use them for their own purposes?

Most translations omit the ancient Greek word "ἐάν""if, when". This is a conditional that creates a dependency. Who is the "one" "little child"?

16. Matthew 18:5 Accept goes both ways
Verse routeMatthew 18:5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. [kjv]
Verse routeκαι ος εαν δεξηται εν παιδιον τοιουτο επι τω ονοματι μου εμε δεχεται [gnt]

Midst 2
This "little child" could be anyone. The most important "little child" is you (one cookie rule). You are that "one" "little child"! What happens if you as that "one" "little child" do not "receive" or "accept" "on" the "name" of Jesus? Including the "if" in the translation makes this correspondence more clear.
Paraphrase: And if you receive/accept, as a little child, on the name of me (Jesus), you receive/accept me (Jesus).

The "accept" or "receive" is used twice in a commutative or both ways relationship. That is, both of the two, Jesus and you, must "agree" for the relationship to be valid. Otherwise, it will not be completed or done. The two are "glued" together.

17. Attention to acceptance of the ten words
Greek letter Greek letter
Here are some words related by sound. The Greek "κ" or "K" (kappa) and Greek "χ" or "Χ" (chi) have related (and somewhat similar) sounds.

18. Matthew 16:24 Deny and take up cross and follow
Jesus then generalizes to any "man" and not just Peter.
Verse routeMatthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [kjv]
Verse routeτοτε ο ιησους ειπεν τοις μαθηταις αυτου ει τις θελει οπισω μου ελθειν απαρνησασθω εαυτον και αρατω τον σταυρον αυτου και ακολουθειτω μοι [gnt]

What does it mean to "deny" yourself? [find your life] The Greek word for "man" is not used. Rather, a pronoun is used.

If the "man" is a "bird" , as in a false leader, then the "bird" must "deny" or "bird" himself, which is to "deny" the "denial" which results in a positive action rather than a negative action. One can then "follow" Jesus.

19. Matthew 10:33 Deny as a bird
Verse routeMatthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. [kjv]
Verse routeοστις δε δ αν αρνησηται με εμπροσθεν των ανθρωπων αρνησομαι καγω αυτον εμπροσθεν του πατρος μου του εν τοις ουρανοις [gnt]

Use the noun for "bird" as a verb. What's your "ask"? [tennising] Paraphrase (with play on words): Whoever [bones, hostile] denies [birds] me before men, I will deny [bird] him before my Father in heaven.

This play on word usage is not the same as the modern "flip" the "bird" action, though the word "flip" is similar in spirit to the Greek word for "worthy" as in "counter-balance" and the word translated as "variance" (in two verses).

20. Matthew 10:29,31,33 Deny
Not "one" but all the "birds" will "fall" as they are (all) "without" the Father.
Verse routeMatthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. [kjv]

You are (should be) "different" than the "birds".
Verse route10:31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. [kjv]

Can we associate the action of "deny" with the action of a "bird"?
Verse route10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. [kjv]
Verse routeοστις δε δ αν αρνησηται με εμπροσθεν των ανθρωπων αρνησομαι καγω αυτον εμπροσθεν του πατρος μου του εν τοις ουρανοις [gnt]

21. Matthew 10:40-41 Receive
Verse routeMatthew 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. [kjv]
Verse routeο δεχομενος υμας εμε δεχεται και ο εμε δεχομενος δεχεται τον αποστειλαντα με [gnt]
Verse route10:41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. [kjv]
Verse routeο δεχομενος προφητην εις ονομα προφητου μισθον προφητου λημψεται και ο δεχομενος δικαιον εις ονομα δικαιου μισθον δικαιου λημψεται [gnt]

Does one need to "accept" or "receive" the "Ten" Commandments or "Words"?

22. Receive the ten
The words in question just happen (coincidence) to use the same ending inflection. Going back seven verses is the play on words of "deny" with "bird". Is there a play on words here too? The modern Greek word "λήψη" (LEE-psee) ≈ "download" as in something you "take" or "receive".
