Sunday School: 2024-09-29 Sermon on the Mount connections
1. Kids Sunday School about 1958
2. Confirmation class about 1976
3. Kids about 1976
4. Kids about 1976
Note the use of the floor to learn the music letters on the G clef.
The kids are holding musical solfège notes and standing on the line for that note.
The teacher was probably Mr. Morris, as this is the type of thing she would have done.
5. Babylonian Captivity
The Babylonian Captivity lasted 70 years - 69 years using 360 day prophetic years. The original Hebrew, before the Babylonian captivity, appeared differently.
Before, the Hebrews spoke Hebrew. After, the Hebrews spoke Aramaic (similar but different). The Hebrews in Babylon were
not slaves in the way we think of slaves. When given the opportunity to leave, most chose to stay in Babylon.
6. Daniel 9:25-27 Daniel prophecy
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. [kjv]
… משיחנגיד … [he]

That this prophecy uses 360 day prophetic years was not realized until 1896 in a book "
The Coming Prince" by the former chief of Scotland Yard Sir Robert Anderson.
≈ 544 BC (Daniel)
≈ 445/444 BC (Nehemiah) Commandant to rebuild Jerusalem.
≈ 31/32 AD (Crucifixion)
= 70 AD (temple destroyed)
Jesus is the "
Messiah" (religious leader, 1st coming) and the "
King" (civil leader, 2nd coming).
7. Prince that shall come
Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. [kjv]
… משיח … [he]
The
"Messiah" (first coming) is cut off, not the
"King" (second coming). For whom was Jesus "
cut off"?
Who are the
people who will destroy the city and the temple in 70 AD?
Who is the "
prince who shall come"? This is the source of the title of Anderson's book
The Coming Prince.
8. Nehemiah 2:1,5-6 Commandment to rebuild Jerusalem
The most important part of Nehemiah, not often mentioned, is that it puts a time and date on the commandment to rebuild Jerusalem.
Nehemiah 2:1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence. [kjv]
2:5 And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it. [kjv]
2:6 And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time. [kjv]
The Hebrew and Babylonian month of Nison is traditionally in the spring. This precise date (e.g., in the
NIV (New International Version)), has been dated to August of 445 BC or 444 BC., about 100 years after the 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel.
Note: Ezra/Nehemiah were originally
one book, not two.
9. Timeline: Prophecy of Daniel
Decree to rebuild:
173,800 days after early August of
445 BC is
March/April of
31 AD.
Temple destruction:
14,400 days before early September of
70 AD is
March/April of
31 AD.
It had to happen at this time. There was
no other way. [one drop of blood fallacy]
Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. [kjv]
10. Jerusalem and Babylon
Who were the
"Magi" and from where did they come?
Who is the most famous Magi?
What was the "Deep state" in Babylon?
[fiery furnace, lion's den]

Book: The coming prince (1894) by Sir Robert Anderson (1841-1918), head of Scotland Yard. Sixty-nine weeks (sevens) of (360 day prophetic) years is 69*7*360 = 173,800 days.
≈ 544 BC (Daniel)
≈ 444 BC (Nehemiah)
≈ 32 AD (Crucifixion)

11. Greek language at the time of Christ
Hebrew: not spoken or written at the time of Jesus.
Aramaic: adapted during the 70 year Babylonian Captivity (597-548 BC).
Greek: spoken for 350 years in the area since Alexander the Great (332 BC).
Reading and writing:
Hebrew: Only the religious ruling class, very difficult
Aramaic: Very difficult, many multiple sounds for consonants, no vowels
Greek: Very easy (compared to the others), few letters, one sound per letter.
12. Sermon on the Mount connections
Two pages have been combined into one. Some parts that are redundant need to be smoothed out.
13. Puzzle pieces and models
Each insight at one place to what Jesus appears to mean from what he says, in context, acts as a puzzle piece to determine what a similar phrase means in another discourse.
Presented by Jesus and recorded by Matthew: Declarative, sometimes top-down backward-chaining, and distributed fault-tolerant and redundant spread-spectrum constraint logic (code) word (and meaning) puzzle.
Inference method: Bottom-up nondeterministic model parse.
Each underlined word has a deep and technical meaning in the field of programming language theory and in computation theory as part of the general field of computer science.
Discuss:
How does a model approach contrast with an opinion-based approach to inferring what is meant in the Bible?
Provide historical examples of both model-based approaches and opinion-based approaches to inferring what is meant in the Bible.
14. Fault-tolerant computing concepts
Fault tolerance is important in distributed systems and in organizations.
Redundancy can be used to
detect and
correct errors (discrepancies).
Bar codes, ISBN, Credit card numbers, UPC, CRC checks, parity checks, etc.
Space shuttle: Four redundant computers with one backup (cross-checking 500 times a second).
Accounting (manual) method of casting out nines.
Masoretic Hebrew text copying rules.
Two (reliable) witnesses (at least) needed.
An understanding of
FTC (Fault Tolerant Computing) techniques is important in understanding the differences in various Bible texts.
The key to fault tolerance is
redundancy. The simplest model is to use redundancy and take a majority vote of the various ways. There are many more advanced methods not discussed here.
15. Matthew 5:9-12 Persecution verses
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [kjv]
5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [kjv]
5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. [kjv]
5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. [kjv]
What does "blessed" mean?Happy
What does "persecute" mean?Pursued
What does "kingdom of heaven" mean?Kingdom of the air
What does "righteousness" mean? What is "right" according to an "opinion" or "glory" or "law".
16. Matthew 7:21-23
17. Matthew 7:21
KJV: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Greek: ου πας ο λεγων μοι κυριε κυριε εισελευσεται εις την βασιλειαν των ουρανων αλλ ο ποιων το θελημα του πατρος μου του εν τοις ουρανοις
18. Matthew 7:22
KJV: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
19. Matthew 7:23
KJV: And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Greek: και τοτε ομολογησω αυτοις οτι ουδεποτε εγνων υμας αποχωρειτε απ εμου οι εργαζομενοι την ανομιαν

24. Matthew 11:5-6 Verses
Jesus relates what should be told to John the Baptist (in prison).
Matthew 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [kjv]
Jesus then says that "
happy" is he who does not "
misinterpret" or "
entrap themselves" in Him.
11:6 And blessed is he, who soever shall not be offended in me. [kjv]
και μακαριος εστιν ος αν μη σκανδαλισθη εν εμοι [gnt]

You are the light of the world. If the light is false light, how shall the light be lighted. with "

3.
False way: 13:
You are the salt of the earth. If the salt is false salt, how shall the salt be salted, with "

pigs).
Let us elaborate the "
negative consequences" of each verse for use as a
model.
28. Beatitudes summary
Here is a quick summary of the Beatitudes. Each starts with "
Blessed are".
1. poor in spirit - theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2. they that mourn - shall be comforted.
3. meek - shall inherit the earth
4. those that hunger and thirst for righteousness - shall be satisfied
5. merciful - shall obtain mercy
6. pure in heart - shall see God
7. peacemakers - shall be called children of God
8. persecuted for righteousness sake - theirs is the kingdom of heaven
...reviled... (follow-on, not same format as previous eight)
To
not be
negative, most series of
ARMS (Attractive Refrigerator Magnet Sermons) stop at number 6 or 7. The Sermon on the Mount then starts with "
salt of the earth" and ends with the "
house built on sand".
29. Attractive refrigerator magnet sermons
A "
refrigerator magnet sermon" is a sermon that is quite "
attractive" but contains
little meaningful content. Such sermons can be preached in
any church. A euphemism for a "
refrigerator magnet sermon" is
ARMS.
When someone asks you what you thought of the church or sermon, you can say:
☐ "
Your church has real open ARMS."
☐ "
I felt welcomed with open ARMS"
☐ "
That preaching was an great example of open ARMS."
Note: A "
refrigerator magnet sermon" not of the polarity of the congregation is "
repulsive"
unlike actual magnets where opposite poles attract.
30. Table

These signs are recognized as "
signs" of the Messiah. Is there a deeper meaning?
Jesus cites six pairs of nouns (representing people) and verbs (representing actions), shortened for table and discussion purposes.
Jesus often uses double meanings here the nouns represent something else while the verbs are carefully chosen. This requires looking at the Greek words in more detail.
31. Matthew 11:5-6 Bottom-up forward-chaining
Message of Jesus to John the Baptist (in physical prison):
Matthew 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [kjv]

The
top-down verses (in English) may be more understandable as a
bottom-up progression (as events unfold in time) using the Greek meanings of the words. Approaches to change: (

34. Review of misinterpretations

Having discovered a deeper meaning to Matthew 11:5, how might someone "misinterpret" what Jesus has said?
What should the church be doing?
What should believers be doing?
|
Discuss: Do churches or believers ever get "
ensnared" or "
misinterpret" in helping the poor, the blind, those without clothes, in prison, etc., and lose sight of the real purpose of Jesus? Many of those words used by Jesus have double meanings.
How many are like those picked by Gideon?
35. Inferred word
One can infer the word "
blessed" or "
happy" (same word in the Greek) for each if the parts of Matthew 11:6. One might assume that those to whom the action was done were "
blessed" or "
happy".

36. The beggars hear the Good News
RC:
Ephesus. KP:
Sower and seed (sheep vs. birds, pigs, fish).
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [kjv]
11:5 … and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [kjv]
5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [kjv]
5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. [kjv]
Jesus did not come to "
reside" or make a "
nest" in the "
law". Those who were
"poor" in "
spirit" and
"begging" for the
"Good News", now have that
"Good News" preached to them as part of the "
kingdom of heaven". You are to let the
true "
light" of Jesus shine through your "
good" "
works".
37. The beggars hear the Good News
Matthew 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [kjv]

39. The dead are woken up
RC:
Smyrna. KP:
Weeds (seeds planted by birds, seeds are the birds, grow into weeds).
Matthew 11:5 … the dead are raised up, … [kjv]
5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. [kjv]
5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. [kjv]
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. [kjv]
Blessed are they who were "
dead" in Christ and
"mourning" (reflexively) for they shall be
"raised" and
"comforted" with the "
Good News". Those who are "
dead" in "
Christ" are
"woken up" after "
hearing" the "
Good News". They are
"comforted" instead of
"mourning", reflexively for themselves and for others.
Various heresies (weeds) start to arise. Leaders pull out a (false light) candle to create (false) kingdoms and mountains and houses.
the candle candling a candle (opinion, glory)
the kingdom kingdoming a kingdom (opinion, glory)

41. The deaf hear with understanding
RC:

Mustard seed, tree, birds (make nest in the tree, the mountain moved).
Matthew 11:5 … and the deaf hear, … [kjv]
5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [kjv]
5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. [kjv]
5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [kjv]
As the meek inherit the secular power of the earth in the fourth century, rivers of fish are attracted to the true light
and to the false light on the mountain in the sea of humanity.
The Greek for
"hear" assumes
"understanding". Those who had "
shut out" the "
gospel" now
"meekly" "hear" and
"listen" and are
"called" to
"inherit" the "
kingdom" in the "
new" "
heaven" and "
new"
"earth".
light a light (true or false)
The
"meek" "hear" with
"understanding" and "

"hear" and, as appropriate, "
change" their "
behavior" to go along with their "
changed" "
thinking".
The Greek word for
"inherit" is made up of the words for
"called" and "
custom" or "
law". One cannot
"inherit" if one does not recognize the
"call" of the "
customs" or "
law" of God.
42. The deaf hear with understanding
Matthew 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [kjv]

5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. [kjv]
5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. [kjv]
During this time, some "
fish", who become "
sheep", are
promoted as "
pigs" to be leaders and/or enforcers, to influence others, sometimes using physical force. These "
pigs" work for the "
birds".
Those "
unclean" from the "
guilt" and "
shame" of the ways of the world, who have "
hungered" and "
thirsted" for "
righteousness", are now
"cleansed" as in
"made pure", and "
washed" in the "
blood" and ready to be "
satisfied" in their "
walk" in "
righteousness".
This appears to be the idea of "
prevenient" "
grace" in action (previous steps) leading to this step of "
ask". This is the "
ask" part of the "
ask" "
seek" "
knock" sequence.

5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. [kjv]

7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [kjv]
Leading up to and during the Reformation, the idea of "
mercy" becomes important. Those who have followed the basic principles, without being side-tracked as a "
bird" or "
pig", have a true reward in heaven. The "
birds" and "
pigs" lead the way in the "
persecution".
Those who were
"lame" or "
not doing anything important" and waiting for
"mercy" in the form of
"alms" now "
walk" in "
righteousness" having received the
"alms" or
"mercy" of the "
Good News" and can now provide
"mercy" to others.
The
"lame" go from
"alms" or
"mercy" taker to
"alms" or
"mercy" giver. This is the "
seek" part of the "
ask" "
seek" "
knock" sequence.

47. The blind see
RC:

One pearl of great price.
Matthew 11:5 The blind receive their sight, … [kjv]
5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. [kjv]
5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. [kjv]
7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [kjv]
During this time, persecution continues on the pure in heart as verbal and physical attacks. The "
fish" are mobilized to "
talk" and make innuendos, etc., against the "
sheep".
Those denominational churches (Sardis) with a
"name" are now, in Philadelphia, doing works as the word
"name" appears three times in Matthew 7:22.
That is, those who were
"blind", having gone through the previous steps, are
"pure" in
"heart", with no ulterior motives, not deceiving or oppressing others, and now
"look up" and
"see" God and others. This is the "
knock" part of the "
ask" "
seek" "
knock" sequence.
The "lepers" were made "clean" or "pure" on the outside to get ready for their "walk".
Those "lepers" are now "clean" or "pure" on the inside and ready to "see" God.
In terms of a "cup", Jesus says to make "pure" the "inside" and the "outside" will be "pure".

Harvest at the end of the age.
Matthew 11:6 And blessed is he, who soever shall not be offended in me. [kjv]
5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [kjv]
5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [kjv]
7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. [kjv]
Jesus then says that
"happy" is he who does not
"misinterpret" or
"entrap themselves" in what Jesus says.
Those who
"make" "peace" by "
compromise" are
"called" "
great" by the "
world" and are
"happy" with themselves. The
"persecution" continues by the "
pigs", having been initiated and supported by the "
birds" at the top. The Greek for "
iniquity" is, literally, "
against the law" as in against the two fundamental laws - love God and love neighbor as yourself.
[No separation of the birds - those who deceive and use others for their own glory/opinion]

7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. [kjv]
51. Observation
The parts of Matthew 11:5 were presented by Jesus in a top-down manner. They make more sense to most people in a bottom-up manner (i.e., reverse order of the ideas presented).
The Greek words often have other meanings than in the translation of the
KJV (King James Version). Adjusting for this helps in understanding and seeing the bigger picture.
Once the first six Beatitudes (in order) and the six parts of Matthew 11-5 (in reverse order) are connected, the next Beatitude and Matthew 11:7 connect in an interesting way.
52. Interpretation
Jesus then says that
"happy" is he who does not "
misinterpret" or "
entrap themselves" in what Jesus says.
Matthew 11:6 And blessed is he, who soever shall not be offended in me. [kjv]
και μακαριος εστιν ος αν μη σκανδαλισθη εν εμοι [gnt]
Those who "
appease" the "
world" or "
compromise" with the "
world" in order to "
make peace" are "
called" "
children of God" by the "
world" and are
"happy" with themselves. They appear to have "
misinterpreted" or "
entrapped themselves" with what Jesus is saying and may end up not being
"happy".
5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [kjv]
μακαριοι οι ειρηνοποιοι οτι αυτοι υιοι θεου κληθησονται [gnt]

53. Bigger more complete picture
Thinking: oaths, head and hairs, yes-yes no-no
Doing: turn the cheek, walk the mile, loan, etc.
Loving: enemies (as neighbors)
Acting: not doing it, doing it
Praying: asking (not doing it). Lord's Prayer

54. Pink elephant
Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [kjv]
Have you ever heard a sermon about not worrying and all the pastor talks about are things that you might be worried about?
Child's game:
Go into a corner and try not to think about a pink elephant. [Tolstoy]
Don't even think about telling a bad (stupid) joke!
To "
muse" is to "
think". The word "
amuse" means, literally, to "
not think".
55. Genesis 3:2-3 Commutative symmetry
Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: [kjv]
και ειπεν η γυνη τω οφει απο καρπου ξυλου του παραδεισου φαγομεθα [lxx]
3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [kjv]
απο δε καρπου του ξυλου ο εστιν εν μεσω του παραδεισου ειπεν ο θεος ου φαγεσθε απ αυτου ουδε μη αψησθε αυτου ινα μη αποθανητε [lxx]
How much of a sin is
passive "
anger"? Just thinking!
How much of a sin is
passive "
adultery"? Just looking!
Do I have to eat the apple to be in trouble?
What if I just think about eating the apple?
How about touching the apple? Who added that rule (horn, tittle)?
[Schneier:
How many ways can you get free pancakes in a restaurant without involving the cash exchange system?]
This Greek word for "
touch" was changed to "
light" (as a "
fire") for the candles in Luke. Matthew was then interpreted (changed words) to have a "
candle" that was on "
fire" or "
lit".
56. Added rules
Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [kjv]
Who
added the rule to
not "
touch" the "
fruit"?
Did God add the rule?
Did Eve add the rule?
Did Adam add the rule?
Outline your reasoning.
How might we reason?
Adam represents the groom or man or Jesus or God.
Eve represents the bride or woman or church or Israel.
Would God or Jesus add such a rule?
Would Israel or the church add such a rule?
57. Penalties
Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [kjv]
What is the penalty for abstract thinking?
What about talking?
What is the penalty for concrete doing?
What happens if laws are enacted for how one is thinking?
What does this mean for hate crime laws?
What are some similarities and differences between
bias and
discrimination?
Walk the walk.
Talk the talk.
Think the think.
58. Matthew 5:23-24 Gift at the alter
Matthew 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; [kjv]
εαν ουν προσφερης το δωρον σου επι το θυσιαστηριον κακει μνησθης οτι ο αδελφος σου εχει τι κατα σου [gnt]
5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. [kjv]

These are the most important parts of what you are to do. The others are mostly warnings on heresies, deceptions, etc.
How well do these three verses in the Sermon on the Mount fit the first topic after these introductory verses?

60. Build summary and verse structure
1 Passive
2 Active
3 Divorced
4 Passive
5 Active
6 Divorced
7 Model
Here is a summary build of the progression. The verse structure is as follows.
Matthew 5:27-32: adultery/separation
primary literal meaning of man and woman.
secondary (intended) meaning Christ and church, etc.
Verse groups:
27-28. Passive desire (potential adultery in the mind).
29-30. Active desire rejected/blocked
31-32. Active desire accepted/separated (actualized adultery in reality)
61. Matthew 18:18 Before and after
|
|
Remove the wall between you and Jesus.
Put up a wall between you and those that would entrap you (to be great).
|
Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. [kjv]
Only
you can
separate yourself from the love of Christ.
Do you see a connection between the before and after?
If you bind/glue yourself to Jesus on earth, you will be bound/glued to Jesus in heaven. If you loose/separate from Jesus on earth, you will be loosed/separated from Jesus in heaven (i.e., you will not be there).
62. Matthew 5:33-37 Reasoning about oaths - yes no
Matthew 5:33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: [kjv]
5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: [kjv]
5:35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. [kjv]
5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. [kjv]
5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. [kjv]
A reasoning about
"oaths" and
"swearing" is covered here. The
"head" and
"hairs" are covered separately.
