Handout 1

Here is a start at a handout. It is intended to be printed on 8-1/2 by 11 paper (not this image, the corresponding PDF being developed - black and white and color versions).

Handout 2
The second page shows the corresponding verses in the Sermon on the Mount along with the corresponding Kingdom Parable and Revelation church.

One can thus study the related groups of verses to see how they fit together with the same theme.

Note that the self-similar fractal-like nature of the verses are such that many groups have sub-elements of adjacent groups as a mini-series within the group.

The ancient Greek word "ἀρνέομαι""deny, disown, refuse, decline". Each of the exact words used by Jesus for "deny" are used only one time in the GNT (Greek New Testament). Perhaps a play on words might be intended.

The ancient Greek word "ὄρνεον""bird" as in a generic bird and is the source of the Old English word "earn""eagle" and the English word "ornithology" as the "study" of "birds" (coined in the 1600's).

Trilemma 1 Book: Fabricating Jesus
In his book Fabricating Jesus, author Craig Evans assumes the sets for "Liar, lunatic or Lord" are mutually exclusive and calls it an excluded middle fallacy. In a logical analysis, one should not jump to that conclusion until further in the general analysis.
He then presents his view (opinion) that "Lord" is not a viable alternative and presents his opinion on other alternatives outside of the domain of "Liar, lunatic or Lord".

The name TR = Textus Receptus means "received text" and sometimes called the "majority text" (a misnomer). This was originally compiled by the Dutchman Desiderius Erasmus in 1516 and used for the basis of translations such as the KJV = King James Version.
Tyndale used this Greek translation as the basis for his translation. Other translations include the Spanish "Reina-Valera" and the Russian "Synodal Bible". In some places, lacking complete Greek manuscripts, Erasmus used the Latin Vulgate to back-translate (i.e., fabricating) some of the TR.

Starting in 1894, Frederick Henry Ambrose Scrivener (and later others) began to modify the TR to make it more in line with the KJV.

The TR often adds or changes (or removes) words that break a model of the underlying passage. Detecting this requires recognizing that a model exists and then how that model is broken with the changes.

Recognizing models or patterns help establish the semantic meaning of the passage in a fault-tolerant error-correcting way such that changes to the text that break the model or pattern become more evident.

This content is a start at consolidating some examples of this model-breaking in the GNT. ... more to be added ...

Etymons
The English word "etiology" or "aetiology" is the study of causation or origin of diseases, words, etc.
The word comes from the ancient Greek word "αἰτιολογία""cause reasoning" and comes from two Greek words. In linguistics, the word "etymon" is often used whereas a more common word is "root". A more common name for "cognate" is "sibling" or "related". Folk etymologies may or may not be linguistically accurate.

Words such as desire, which required a context, have, over time in English, narrowed in meaning. This narrowed meaning can lead to inferring meanings today that were not in the original text.

Description: His approach-that of positive apologetics-gives careful attention to crucial questions and concerns, including: the relationship of faith and reason, the existence of God, the problems of historical knowledge and miracles, the personal claims of Christ, and the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus. He shows that there is good reason to think Christianity is true. As Craig says, "If you have a sound and persuasive case for Christianity, you don't have to become an expert in comparative religions and Christian cults. A positive justification of the Christian faith automatically overwhelms all competing world views lacking an equally strong case." Amazon.com (as of 2025-03-13)

Claude Shannon (noisy-channel coding theorem) founded the field of information theory and interested in the statistical properties of preserving message integrity. He worked for Bell Labs and the phone company wanted ways to send messages with minimal distortion or loss of the original signal.

His master's thesis in 1939 was on how to build a working computer - none had been built before. Turing did related theoretical work in 1936.

During World War II, Claude Shannon worked on message encryption and developed a secure device (using OTP (One Time Pad) encryption) to allow Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill to talk to each other. One requirement was that they not sound like Micky Mouse (or Donald Duck, etc).

Now that the field of information theory, and the information age, is maturing, it has become clear that Aristotle and John the Apostle both had ways of thinking that are in line with the thinking and problem solving of (many) modern computer scientists.

Here is one definition of forgiveness in modern psychology from the APA (American Psychology Association). (as of 2023-04-01). Underlining has been added for discussion purposes.

Forgiveness involves willfully putting aside feelings of resentment toward someone who has committed a wrong, been unfair or hurtful, or otherwise harmed you in some way. Forgiveness is not merely accepting what happened or ceasing to be angry. Rather, it involves a voluntary transformation of your feelings, attitudes, and behavior, so that you are no longer dominated by resentment and can express compassion, generosity, or the like toward the person who wronged you.

Note that in the GNT, the "trespass" for which you need to "let go" or "forgive" (as the modern English word) need not be against you.

Let go to forgive

The word slide of the Greek "send away" or "let pass" or "allow" to the modern English "forgive" as in "pardon", and the use of the modern psychology meaning of "forgive", leads to some interesting claims in sermons.

In addition to the Latin split of the words and meanings, many of the English meanings have changed from when the Latin was used as the basis of translation.
The ancient Greek word "ἀφίημι""send forth, send away" and is the word often used by the KJV for "suffer" as in "allow". This Greek word was translated using three (or more) Latin words. The "miss" of "dismiss" is related to the last part of the word "Christmas" and to the English word "mission".

A modern "forgiveness" deception, perhaps used by "snakes" or "birds" who "deny", is the following. A follow-on deception is to focus on others and what you can do for them or to forgive them instead of focusing on yourself and what you should be doing.

Verse routeκαι εαν ασπασησθε τους αδελφους υμων μονον τι περισσον ποιειτε ουχι και οι εθνικοι τοαυτο ποιουσιν [gnt]

There are (at least) two ancient Greek words for what some would call "cheers" or "greetings". The ancient Greek word "ἀσπάζομαι""cheers, salute" and is less formal and less serious sense. The word for the general "ethnic" population at large is in most manuscripts rather than the more specific "publican" or "tax collector" (which has a special meaning when used by Jesus).

The ancient Greek word "χαίρετε""greetings, rejoice" and is usually in a more formal, sincere and positive sense. The modern Greek word "χαίρετε" (HEH-reh-teh) ≈ "greetings" as a more formal greeting.

The "Pledge of Allegiance" and the Bellamy salute, also called the flag salute, date to 1892.

The Nazi salute, also called the Hitler Salute, also called the Roman salute, did not actually originate from Roman times. It was similar to the Bellamy salute.

The Pledge of Allegiance salute was changed by Congress to the right hand over the heart in 1942.

English: Quickness of wit is a sort of flair for hitting upon the middle term without a moment's hesitation. A man sees that the moon always has its bright side facing the sun, and immediately realizes the reason: that it is because the moon derives its brightness from the sun; or he sees someone talking to a rich man, and decides that it is because he is trying to borrow money; or he understands why people are friends, because they have a common enemy. (Loeb#391, p. 171)

Aristotle: Posterior Analytics [89b]
[Churchill]

English: In all these cases, perception of the extreme terms enables him to recognize the cause or middle term. A stands for "bright side facing the sun", and C for "moon". Then B, "deriving brightness from the sun", applies to C, "moon" and "A", "having the bright side facing the source of its brightness", applies to B. Thus A applies to C through B. (Loeb#391, p.172)

Each level of a tree increases the number of nodes in the tree.
There are more and more ancestors in the family tree as one goes back in time. How then does one go back to just two people (i.e., Adam and Eve) at the start? The population doubles at each generation. That is, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. This is a geometric increase.
In computer science terms, the family tree is not a (pure) tree structure. A tree is a connected graph with no cycles. The family tree structure is what is called a DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph). The corresponding unconnected graph has cycles.

The Babylonian god "Nabu" or "Nebo", with Mesopotamian roots, was associated with literacy and wisdom. The word is from the Akkadian and means to "announce" or "prophesy".
This god Nabu is not related to the idyllic Naboo colony in the Star Wars episodes.

The god "Nabu" is associated with the Latin god "Mercury", the Greek god "Hermes" and the Egyptian god "Thoth".

In terms of "prophecy", the god "Nabu" is sometimes associated with the Greek god "Apollo" as the "giver of prophecies".

Are the gematria values the same for the Paleo-Hebrew and block-script Hebrew letters?

The Paleo-Hebrew characters were pictographs of what the sound represented.
During the Babylonian captivity, Hebrew was replaced by Aramaic as the spoken language and the block script replaced the older Paleo-Hebrew script. It is unclear why this happened.

Consider the existence of "A" and "B" where there are some similarities and differences between "A" and "B". What is the relationship between "A" and "B"?

The general idea is that of abstraction. The four obvious ways are as follows.
Note that there are more complicated combinations of these four basic ways. Note that the Q Source hypothesis has a common (undiscovered) source for some of the Synoptic Gospels. This idea is trivially true if one takes Q to be Jesus himself as the source of the other Gospels.
